There are only a few seconds left to claim “early adopter” status on the bullet train comedians know as Zainab Johnson before it leaves the station.
If you’re just now buying a ticket, I’ll warn you…you’ll struggle to find a seat.
Her ascent to the stratosphere of super stardom, isn’t a matter of if, but when…and truth be told it’s already happening. And has been for a while.
As razor sharp as she is graceful, Zainab Johnson’s talent for delivering politically relevant content without sounding like an acerbic news anchor is addictive.
Feminine without weakness, and culturally aware without being preachy, she’s the embodiment of my favorite insight about New York. The sights are there but don’t get caught slipping.
I caught all 3 nights at DC Loft (08/19-08/20, 2022) and walked away each night a bigger fan for having done so.
Witnessing her gift for crowdwork as she tailored a bespoke experience to each audience each night was almost Hughley-esque (not an easy compliment to get from me) but there’s an added warmth that feels like the comedy club is her home and she’s thrown the best house party.
I’ve never seen anyone perform in such a manner that an audience of strangers leaves having befriended one another…and taking group pictures for having shared the expreince.
If you’re not already a fan of Zainab Johnson, its only because you haven’t seen her perform. I suggest you do so…before there are no more seats…

As she takes the stage tonight she’s already made her family, her friends and us ticket holders proud.
